THR 2009 - The Stage Environment

This survey course offers an exploration of the diverse elements that form the foundation of the stage environment in theatre productions. Students will develop insights into lighting, costuming, scenery, and other vital facets that enhance the overall theatrical immersion. Through a combination of engaging lectures, participatory discussions, immersive hands-on experiences, and collaborative group sessions, alongside a semester-long case study and design project, students will nurture the fundamental skills necessary to craft an environment conducive to storytelling and performance. Additionally, students will be tasked with writing design critiques and maintaining a journal reflecting their responses to the lectures.

THR2101/DAN2107 - Production Running Crew

This course is intended to serve as a practical introduction to the operation of a live show during the technical rehearsal, dress rehearsal, and performance periods. As part of the course, the student will be expected to serve as a running crew member for a departmental production.

THR 2214 - Dance Production Basics

(Team taught) An introduction to the techniques of stage production in costume, stage lighting, and stage sound. Coursework include the understanding of basic design principles, appropriate paperwork, organization, use of equipment, construction/installation techniques, and safety. Students also participate in a variety of production activities.

    THEA 101- Introduction to World Drama and Theatre

    Teaching Assistant - Spring 2022 (team-taught course and Supervisor: Markus Wessendorf)

    Performance traditions of Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and the Pacific from the 5th century B.C. to the present. Analysis of political, religious, and technological conditions of theatre. Includes practical theatre workshop. Emphasis on writing instruction.

    HIN-URD 1/2/3- Introduction to Hindi/Urdu

    Teaching Associate - Fall 2020, Winter 2021 & Spring 2021 (Supervisor: Gyanam Mahajan)

    Coverage of basic Hindi/Urdu grammar, with equal emphasis on reading, writing, conversation, and comprehension.

    THEA 14C- Introduction to Design

    Teaching Assistant - Spring 2019 (Supervisor: Raquel Baretto) & Spring 2020 (Supervisor: Chrisi Karvonides)

    Exploration of visual interpretation of drama. Study of styles and techniques of design, collaborative role of designer, principles of design for scenery, lighting, costumes, and sound. Both technical and aesthetic groundwork for further study.
